Ashley tweeted this on September 4th:
"Signed my record deal with Warner Bros. LA yesterday.... I'm ready to make some music!!!!"
Thank goodness some label out there appreciates her talent even if its not based in Nashville! What the heck is the matter with those folks in Music City? So when a new artist from a big label doesn't make it at Top 40 country radio they become a discarded "has been" no matter how young and talented they are? That's really pathetic...
PS - Warners L.A. was the label that finally signed Kasey Chambers for distribution of her first two (or was it three?) albums in the US. Someone here in Los Angeles showing good taste in music! That's outrageous! (lol)

Hello,
There was an issue with the Forum database due to a corrupt table. Unfortunately this was the membership table. I have restored the table to a backup from June - so if you signed up after this, then you will need to re-sign up.
I apologise for the inconvenience.

Well, I'm gonna miss one sooner or later. Certainly can't keep this up forever. I'm going to have to check into airfares in the next couple of weeks. I've been too scared to do it so far. I didn't think I'd make it last year because the fares were ridiculous, but around Labour Day, I took a look and they suddenly dropped and I grabbed my seat! But there have been years that the fares stayed high and I went anyway, but can't do that anymore. I need a decent fare to be able to go. I'm also not happy that if I do go, it won't be for as long as I'd like. The past 2 years, I've gotten there on Thursday which is the day before the "official" opening of the festival and there's been some good gigs to see on that day I arrive. But, all of a sudden, my work has said no one gets vacation the first 2 weeks in January (our busiest time), so with the flight time and time difference, I couldn't arrive till Sunday. Shortens my trip by 3 days, but nothing I can do.

That's good news Packer. Now I need to make sure Meee makes it down to next January's Tamworth Festival so he can pick me up an autographed copy from Kirsty! Go Kirsty!

Kirsty Lee Akers has been saying on Facebook that she'll have a new album out in January--and that it will likely launch at Tamworth.

Well, I guess the cat's out of the bag. The first and only time I saw Catherine smoke was after a show in Michigan 5 years ago, but I swore I would never say anything about it. But since someone else has now mentioned it.....Even to this day, I find it absolutely incredible that any young person would pick up a cigarette. Sure, we all have that curiosity, but, unlike when I was a teenager, today we are bombarded with all the info about how dangerous it is to our bodies, being a major cause of deadly cancers and emphysema. That info is everywhere, the papers, radio, tv, etc. Why aren't people absolutely terrified to smoke a cigarette? With the history of cancer in my family, my entire life I've been too afraid to pick one up no matter that people I may have hung around with smoked. If I had a cigarette in my hand, it would be shaking so much. That's how afraid of them I am. And with that said, I did smoke just one cigarette when I was 19, my first and last ever. I was out with 2 cousins of the same age and they both smoked. I took 6 or 7 puffs and that's it. I could not understand the attraction to cigarettes. I couldn't fathom how someone could smoke their first ever cigarette and say to themselves..wow, this is so damn good! The cigarette had absolutely nothing to it. No flavour when inhaling or exhaling. Nothing! So why on earth would anyone want to smoke another one? I know nicotine is addicting, but not after just one or two!

Megan gets a nice plug on AOL's "The Boot" country music blog today! It's not much but at least she hasn't been forgotten by the female staffers at The Boot. I like how it refers to "Long Past Gone" as Megan's "current single" when its been ages since that song had little to no impact at country radio. A different song offered as a download freebie at that time through Country Weekly Magazine "Almost Like Your Here" was a far catchier tune and should have been the single in my opinion. Link: http://www.theboot.com/2010/08/13/megan-mullins-songs/I don't even know if Megan is still signed to the Broken Bow label? Their website is down for reconstruction, so who knows...
